Bio for Open House

My name is Ty Glass. I am graduate of the 2007 class at Sweet Water High School. I am married to the former Rachel Davis, who also graduated here in 2008. We live in town with our 2 beautiful children, Anna Beth (3 years old) and Judah Paul (1 year old), and our wonderful Shiloh Shepherd, Sybil. Sweet Water High School is a very special place to me personally. I met my wife here, some life-long friends, got my diploma here, won a state championship in football, and gained 1st team All-State honors in football and baseball. As a teacher/coach, I now aspire to give my students the same opportunities and joys that I have enjoyed at this wonderful place. Sweet Water High School is successful largely because of the unity in our community. Regardless of background, our people love our school, and we collectively recognize the important role it plays in the development of our children and promise of our future. I am blessed and honored to be just a very small part of the team that makes sure our school remains a place that produces a quality education and a lifetime of opportunities and experiences. I am starting my 5th year at SWHS, and 7th year overall in teaching.

I enjoy hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching college football. I also love to cook and go on mission trips. Some interesting places I have been include Alaska, Hawaii, Bahamas, Peru, Guatemala, Nicaragua, and the Native American Reservation in Pineridge, South Dakota. As you can see, I love to travel to different places and learn from other people that are different from me. I believe that my travels have truly had a positive impact on my world view and ability to relate to others.

I am also the Minister of Students at Sweet Water Baptist Church. While I hold the title, Rachel plays a crucial role in helping me fulfill our spiritual duties there. We are truly blessed to be here, and I often say to my coworkers, "Just another day in paradise", because that is how I feel every time I walk in the doors of this place. There is not a better school in the state to work. Most days do not feel like work; rather, they feel like another amazing opportunity to impact young people in a positive way. That is my life ambition - to impact the lives of those around me in a way that they see the love of Christ through me, even when my own actions fall short of that standard. It is an honor to be a Bulldog, and I look forward to helping your children feel the same way!
